Culture Vibes festival returns to Kensington Park this Saturday, and it brings a bright afternoon and night out for Kensington. From 3pm to 10pm on 17 October, the park will host music, food, art and community activity. Randwick City Council says the event is open to all ages, and pets are welcome too.
The festival aims to feel relaxed and easy to join. Visitors can bring a picnic blanket, settle in and move through the day at their own pace. That simple format should suit local families, friends and anyone looking for a nearby spring outing.

Stage program brings global sounds
The main stage line-up starts with MC Shyamla, then moves into Gamay Dancers and Mui Mui Bumer Gedlam. Suara Indonesia Dance and THQ Lion Dance follow, while Lucky African Dance and Royston Noell keep the afternoon moving.
The evening program adds more variety. Maracatu Ubuntu, Dabke Aus, Group La Faya and GabZak and A Dance of Worlds bring different styles and traditions to the park. Later still, Haskas Greek Dance, SousAnna’s Band, United Bhangra Champions and Cumbiamuffin close the program with more energy. The final stretch looks set to keep people in the park through sunset.

Aunty Lola Ryan will lead the Welcome to Country, and Cr Clare Willington, the Mayor of Randwick, will also speak. That gives the event a formal opening before the music and performances take over.
Food stalls, workshops and market finds
The food offering looks broad and colourful. Council has lined up stalls with flavours from Japan, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Senegal, Italy, Hungary, Jamaica, Greece, Indonesia, China, Portugal and other places. Many stalls list vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher and gluten-free options.

The market stalls add another layer to the day. Shoppers can browse handmade jewellery, baskets, textiles, homewares, journals and more. Council information stalls will also be part of the site, alongside community-focused displays.
Workshops and activations should keep children and adults busy between performances. The program includes drum and dance workshops, shell art craft, traditional weaving, table tennis, the Neon Canvas community art wall and the Kaktos inflatable art installation. The Floating Suburb Project also adds a local creative touch.

A local night with a global feel
Culture Vibes festival feels like a good fit for Kensington. It is close to home, but it still carries a big-city sense of variety and movement. The mix of food, music and hands-on activities gives residents an easy reason to stay longer.
By the time the lights come on at dusk, the park should feel full of life. Culture Vibes festival is not just another calendar item. It is one of those days that gives a suburb something to talk about afterwards.
